ICTSI wins bid for Honduras terminal
International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) won the International Public Bidding Process for the Design, Financing, Construction, Maintenance, Operation and Exploitation of the Specialized Container and General Cargo Terminal of Puerto Cortes in Honduras, according to press release.
The announcement was made during a public hearing held on 1 February 2013 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
At the same public hearing, the Technical Committee of the bid process composed of members of the Commission for the Public-Private Alliance (COALIANZA), an entity of the federal government of Honduras, and FICOHSA bank, the trustee of the conferred contract, awarded to ICTSI the Contract for the Design, Finance, Construction, Preservation, Operations and Exploitation of the Container and General Cargo Terminal of Puerto Cortes in the Republic of Honduras for a period of 30 years.
The Container and General Cargo Terminal of Puerto Cortes will have 1,100 meters of quay for containers and 400 meters for general cargo, 14 meters of draft (that can reach 15 meters), 62.2 hectares of total surface area, 12 STS cranes and an annual volume capacity of approximately 1.8 million TEUs.
