Rosmorport icebreakers assisted Indian submarine (photo-video report)
On January 29-31, the Dikson and Captain Chadayev icebreakers of Arkhangelsk branch of FSUE Rosmorport provided icebreaking services to an Indian submarine in the White Sea. According to the press center of Rosmorport, it was the first experience of ice navigation for a diesel electric submarine Sindurakshak upgraded and repaired by Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center (Severodvinsk). The voyage was carried out under the direction of V.G. Iljin, captain-instructor of the Arkhangelsk branch.
Despite the difficult ice situation and tight schedule the vessels successfully passed 180 miles up to the ice-free waters of the Barents Sea from where the submarine set off on its own to the base in the Indian Ocean.
