Throughput of Ventspils Port fell by 1.7% to 3 mln t in Jan’13
In January 2013, throughput of Ventspils Port (Latvia) fell by 1.7%, year-on-year, to 3 mln tons. According to the port’s administration, transshipment of oil products totaled 1.6 mln tons (+7%), coal – almost 919,000 tons (+2%), Ro-Ro cargo – 139,000 tons (+4%). Over the accounting year the port accepted 61,398 passengers of ferries and cruise ships.
Ventspils port is located near Venta river. There are terminals for loading and unloading of crude and oil products, liquid chemicals and fertilizers, metal and coal, timber and fish, containers and Ro-Ro trailers. In 2012 the port’s throughput increased by 7% to 30.4 mln tons.
