Port of Rotterdam power grid expanded
Grid manager Stedin is investing almost half a billion euros in the construction, improvement and replacement of gas and electricity grids in 2013, port , Reuters reports. The most important expansions in the power grid take place in the port of Rotterdam area, the islands of the province of Zuid-Holland and in the province of Utrecht.
In collaboration with national grid manager TenneT, an extra connection will be built to Voorne-Putten from the Maasvlakte and from the Botlek. An entirely new connection will come between Voorne-Putten and Goeree-Overflakkee. Also in collaboration with TenneT, the capacity in the province of Utrecht will be expanded with extra connections. In doing so, the grid manager wants to increase the level of continuous and safe energy transport.
Last year, Stedin published its annual proposed investment for the first time. The energy grid manager in the provinces of Zuid-Holland, Utrecht and parts of the Weert, Dokkum and Kennemerland regions has earmarked investment projects for the coming three years.
