RF FAS is checking agents of largest players in the market of sea and ocean container transportation
On February 11, 2013, Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation (RF FAS) started checking agents of the largest players in the market of sea and ocean container transportation suggesting possible violation of antimonopoly legislation, press center of RF FAS informs.
The check covers Maersk JSC, Mediterranean Shipping Company Rus LLC, CMA CGM Rus Ltd., APL CIS Ltd., K Line Rus Ltd., NYK Line Rus Ltd., OOCL Russia Ltd., China Shipping Agency Russia Ltd., Hyundai Merchant Marine Ltd., ZIM Russia JSC, COSCO RUSSIA Ltd., Evergreen Shipping Agency Russia Ltd., Ocean Container Services Ltd., the release reads.
Sea and ocean container transportation has a great impact on international trade today. The share of container cargo in the total throughput (average global figure) has reached 55% over the recent years. With a considerable share of expenses for sea and ocean container transportation in the goods’ prices, any increase of shipping costs will have a direct affect on consumers worldwide, FAS press center states.
Antimonopoly authorities of the USA, EU and a number of Asian states have recently checked sea and ocean shipping companies with further initiation of measures to remedy the violations.
