Criminal case initiated against Andrei Krainiy, head of Russian Federal Fishery Agency
Central Federal District Department of Russia’s Investigation Committee (IC) has initiated a criminal case against Andrei Krainiy, head of Russian Federal Fishery Agency (Rosrybolovstvo) for an offence under part 1 of article 292 of RF Criminal Code (forgery by an official), IC press center states.
According to the case materials, on May 25, 2011 Andrei Krainiy ordered his subordinate employees to prepare a backdated order for dismissal of Sergei Muravjov, head of the Agency’s North West territorial administration, after the latter was detained when trying to accept a bribe of RUR 5 mln. This could help Muravjov escape criminal responsibility.
The forgery fact was found in the course of investigation against Sergei Muravjov. Andrei Krainiy is to be questioned in the nearest future.
According to the RF Criminal Code, maximum punishment for forgery by an official is confinement for 4 years with denial of right for special activities for 3 years.
The criminal case against Muravjov is before the court now.
