Vostochny Port OJSC to commission portal crane Aist and two manipulators in QI 2013 (photo)
In the first quarter of 2013, Vostochny Port OJSC (port Vostochny, Primorsk Territory) will put into operation a new Russian portal crane Aist (32 tons in capacity) and two Liebherr hydraulic manipulators at PPK-1 (one of two operating transshipment complexes of Vostochny Port OJSC), PortNews IAA learnt from the press center of Vostochny Port OJSC. The new phase of the equipment renovation will double the capacity of PPK-1: from 3.6 mln tons of coal to 6 mln tons of coal per year.
Besides, Vostochny Port OJSC intends to apply innovative approaches to warehouse logistic development.
As Anatoli Lazarev, Director General of Vostochny Port OJSC, comments, “we embarked on implementation of the program for renovation and modernization of our terminal facilities as early as in 2010. By 2015 we plan to considerably increase the operation speed of the complexes and to improve the cargo handling quality.”
The leaders of the stevedoring company are sure that with the expanded storage area and renovated infrastructure, PPK-1 will handle 5 mln tons of cargo per year by 2014.
As PortNews IAA reported earlier, in January 2013, two handling terminals of Vostochny Port (PPК-1 and PPК-3) handled over 1.5 mln tons of coal, up 15%, year-on-year.
In 2012, throughput of Vostochny Port OJSC gained 9.3%, year-on-year, to 18,039,400 tons.
