Railways towards Ukrainian ports of Iljichevsk, Odessa and Yuzhny to boost capacity

The capacity of railways towards seaports of Iljichevsk, Odessa and Yuzhny will be increased, press center of Ukraine’s Ministry of Infrastructure states.

Besides, with the implementation of the Presidential Program of Economic Reforms through 2010-2014 and Ukraine’s Transport Strategy through 2020, this year will see further work on the development of a deep-water Danube-Black Sea fairway at the Ukrainian part of the delta with the depth of 7.2 m. The work will continue on the construction of a container terminal at the Quarantine mole  of Odessa commercial seaport. The plan envisages the construction of two berths with total length of 650 meters and storage areas (of up to 112,400 square meters) with technological passways. Besides, by 2015 the sea approach canal will be reconstructed and deepened to 21 meters as well as internal water approaches to the berths of Yuzhny port which will allow to accept vessels of up to 200,000 tons in deadweight.
