Lemminkäinen consortium wins contract for container terminal in Lithuania
A consortium between Lemminkäinen and YIT has signed a contract for the construction of an extension to a container terminal in Klaipeda, a Lithuanian seaport, the company reports. Lemminkäinen will be the main contractor for the consortium. Work at the construction site will begin in March, with the construction being carried out in three phases. The last phase is scheduled for completion in August 2014. The total value of this project is around 28 million euros, of which Lemminkäinen's share is approximately 21.5 million euros.
This contract includes civil engineering works, electrical works, paving of the port's yard, and construction of a technical maintenance building. The Klaipeda terminal is part of the global container terminal network owned by Terminal Investment Ltd.
"The project will strengthen our market position in Lithuania. Our solid expertise in project management is an asset to us in a project of such large scale and tight schedule," says Jarmo Rautanen, Vice President at Lemminkäinen.
