In 2012 JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (SP of SPb) transferred 56.7 mln. rubles for measures aimed at decrease of negative impact on ecological system of the territories adjacent to the port.
According to the company's press release, main funds were transferred for air protection. In 2012 modernization of heat supply facility was completed which allowed to refuse from using of oil-fired boiler houses and to reduce polluting emissions into air by 46% in comparison with 2011.
Part of the funds was transferred for water protection. Within a year the company carried out waste water treatment and monitoring of use of coastal area. Works on maintenance of treatment facilities were carried out at the terminals.
Funds were transferred for the disposal of consumption and production wastes, which includes recordkeeping of volumes of wastes, monitoring of places for temporary storage of wastes, removal and disposal.
JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (included in UCL Port – stevedoring division of the International transportation group UCL Holding) – is the largest operator, rendering services on handling of all types of dry cargoes in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg. It operates by modern specialized terminals for handling of container, reefer, ro-ro cargoes, cars and metals.
