Ust-Luga Company continues development of port infrastructure
Ust-Luga Company has determined the range of activities ensuring functioning of the port’s terminals, the terms of their implementation, social-economic and ecological efficiency of their implementation, the Company’s press center informs.
Luzhsksya-Generalnaya station is being designed to ensure functioning of the port’s Northern district. The financing of the construction is foreseen by the investment program of RZhD OJSC.
Besides, the company has started preparing for designing and construction of the 2nd phase of in-port electricity network and unified system of utility and drinking water supply. Designed minimal load of the engineering facilities should ensure stable operation of the terminals with obligatory meeting of sanitary, ecological, fire-protection and other requirements. Initial data on designed load has been developed basing on the terminals’ stated demand jointly with the technical specialists of OJSC Ust-Luga project-engineering company.
The Company has completed designing of a surface-stream flow sewer in the district of Yugantovski Cape and Norhtern district of the port.
The Company is now negotiating with potential investors on construction of new sea terminals in the Northern part of the port. As for the Southern district, Luzhskaya-Yuzhnaya station is to be developed in view of the forecasted increase of railway cargo flow to and from the port. By 2015, four rail lines are to appear to focus on container trains and transfer trains, and two lines – for a multi-purpose transshipment complex Yug-2 and automobile-train ferry complex; by 2020 – six lines focusing on container trains and transfer trains and four lines – for Yug-2 and automobile-train ferry complex.
Boosting railway transportation makes it necessary to build multi-level interchanges at the approaches to the Southern district of the port to ensure unhampered automobile link of the port’s southern terminals with the network of the federal highways and with the center of Russia.
By the order of Ust-Luga Company and Ust-Luga Container Terminal, Research and Design Institute of Regional Development and Transportation has developed a draft design for a transport hub comprising three multi-level traffic interchanges.
