The joint venture would build a three-berth facility capable of handling vessels up to 6,000 teu in capacity at a cost of $345m. It would be completed in 2010 and be Pusan Port Authority's first overseas venture.
Unlike other internationally operated terminals planned for Cai Mep the South Korean venture would be 100% foreign owned.
APM Terminals, PSA International and SSA Marine have all formed 50 – 50 joint ventures with Saigon Port to develop two berth facilities at Cai Mep.
DP World has an 80% stake in joint venture to build a terminal at Hiep Phouc closer to Ho Chi Minh City.
