Cargo turnover of Liepaja port down 10.2% in January-November 2006

In the 11-month period of 2006 Liepaja port transshipped 3.703 million tons of cargo (-10.2% against year-on-year result, Egils Sveilis, expert of marketing and investment department of Liepaja FEZ, reports according to RZD-Partner.  The highest transshipment result was demonstrated in the sector of loose bulk cargo - 1.522 million tons (+7.5% against year-on-year result), mostly grain additional grain products - 884 thou tons (+4.8%). Transshipment of general cargo totaled 1.291 million tons (-38.6%), including ferrous metal and products - 623.8 thou tons (-18.1%). In the 11-month period the port handled 890.4 thou tons (+46.7%) of liquid bulk cargo including 693.2 thou tons (+65.5%) of oil products and 181.2 thou tons (+15%) of crude oil.
The highest result among stevedoring companies of Liepaja port was demonstrated by Liepajas osta LM - 1.17 million tons (-3%), the second result - TransWide Service (469.6 thou tons; +30.9%), the third one - BBC (363.1 thou tons; +87.6%).
