Cargo turnover of Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company LLC carrying out container transportation at the territory of Vostochny Port (Far East) totaled 262 659 TEU in January-November 2006 (-13% or 303 593 TEU against year-on-year result), the company’s press release reads. In November 2006 VSC handled 29 327 TEU (-7% against November 2005). In January-November 2006, transshipment of transit containers fell by 90% to 10 061 TEU. In November, transit volume totaled 622 TEU against 8 933 TEU in November 2005 (- 93%).
Volume of export containers handled by the company in January-November 2006 grew by 31%, year-on-year – from 71 947 TEU to 93 928 TEU. In November 2006, transshipment of export containers totaled 9 471 TEU (+26%).
Handling of import grew by 20% – from 120 602 TEU in January-November 2005 to 144 903 TEU in January-November 2006. In November 2006, volume of import containers grew by 25 % against November 2005.
Results of 2006 are compared to those of 2005 when container transshipment was carried out at the territory of Vostochny Port by Vostochny International Container Service CJSC and Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company LLC.
Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company LLC specializes in transshipment of container cargo. It was founded in 2004. The company provides a complete rage of stevedoring and warehousing services, including storage of refrigerator containers, container repair and security. Vostochny International Container Service CJSC was founded in 1995, before 2006 it was specializing in stevedoring services. Owing to changes introduced into organization of the activities carried out by stevedoring companies at the container terminal of Vostochny port, VICS’s major task from February 2006 is the development of VSC’s customer base. VICS CJSC and VSC LLC are under shared management of P&O Ports and Severstaltrans groups.
