GEFCO to open its first Russian logistics platform in mid-2007

GEFCO has will open its first logistics platform in Russia in June 2007 – a 20,000 m2 facility located in Podolsk, near Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport.The new Russian platform is an integral part of the logistics system that GEFCO has set up in Central and Eastern Europe, one of its three key development zones together with Asia and Latin America.GEFCO is extending its range of solutions in Russia in response to the country’s booming logistics market and to support the development of its key accounts.

Opened in 2004, GEFCO’s Russian subsidiary operates mainly in the vehicle logistics and freight transport sectors. However, the company has also targeted the cosmetics and hi-tech sectors, and specialist distribution.Earlier this year, GEFCO Russia obtained the status of customs broker from the Federal Customs Service of Russia.The new facility will benefit from the strength of GEFCO’s integrated groupage and full/part load network, featuring 150 depots linked by more than 600 international lines across Europe.
