Shipping companies of Odessa region decreased cargo delivery by 10.6% in Jan.-Oct. 06

In January-October 2006, shipping companies of Odessa region (Ukraine) decreased cargo delivery by 10.6%, year-on-year, to 5.5 million tons state regional administration reports according to RBC-Ukraine. Volume of foreigntrade cargo decreased by 14.8%. However, the ports accepted and handled 12 769 vessels including 8 306 foreign ship owners and forwarders (+0.4% and +4.9% against year-on-year result). In 2005, shipping companies of Odessa region increased cargo transshipment by 3.6%, year-on-year, to 7.3 million tons. They cover 80% of all sea transportation carried out by Ukraine’s shipping companies.
