Shipping company DryShips Inc. said Wednesday that it has sold a 22-year old vessel and replaced it with a five-year old ship as part of its fleet renewal strategy.DryShips sold a bulk carrier built in 1984 for $24.6 million, the company said, and will deliver it to its buyers in the second quarter of 2007. The company will realize a gain on its books of $17.8 million from the sale.The Athens, Greece-based company also purchased a bulk carrier built in 2001 for $39.7 million and expects to take delivery on that ship by the third quarter of 2007, DryShips said.Shares of DryShips fell 14 cents to $15.96 in midday trading on the Nasdaq.
