Kazakhstan suffers losses from grain transportation to Baltic ports

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy transported 1.1 mln tons of freights to the Baltic ports in November 2006, RZD-Partner reports. The transportation turned out to be unprofitable, Erlan Atamkulov, AO Kazakhstan Temir Zholy president said at ""1520Strategic Partnership: Central Asia" conference.
"We have transported 1 mln 100 thousand tons of grain and got $180 loss. That is absolutely unprofitable. We transport socially available cargo, we have to transport it, we don’t say, that we will not. The other question is that there are other destinations. There is Iran, there is Aktau, there is grain terminal there; there are Black Sea ports”, he said.
