From the beginning of 2006, 5.2 million tons of oil have been produced at Sakhalin (+1 million tons against last annual record – in 2005 annual production totaled 4 million tons, Federal Statistics service of Sakhalin region reports according to ITAR-TASS. Considerable volumes were added by the Sakhalin-I project, which started large-scale operation at the shelf of the Sea of Okhotsk this year. In November, the Orlan sea platform and the Yastreb coastal complex produced 396 thou tons of hydrocarbons. If they may reach design capacity of 250 thou barrels (33 thou tons) per day the production may total 6 million tons in 2006.
