Cargo turnover of Arkhangelsk port fell by 18.1% in January-November 2006 compared to the similar period of the previous year. It totaled 4 900.057 thou tons, PortNews IAA learnt from Administration of Arkhangelsk Seaport. The port’s stevedoring companies received 369.427 thou tons (+ 31.8%, year-on-year) including 164.758 thou tons of import cargo (+ 73.7%), 204.669 thou tons of coastal trade cargo (+10.3%). Import of containers totaled 42.193 thou tons (- 44.4%), machines and equipment – 1.724 thou tons (2.6 times as high as that of January-November 2005), other general cargo - 120.841 thou tons (6.6 times as high as that of January-November 2005). Incoming coastal trade cargo included 8 405 thou tons of containerized cargo (+5%), 16.829 thou tons of metal (+17.8%), 5.777 thou tons of metal scrap (-33.3%), 152.759 thou tons of other general cargo (+0.2%).
Besides, in the 11-month period of 2006 4 530.630 thou tons of cargo were dispatched from the port of Arkhangelsk (- 20.6%). The figure includes 1 267.682 thou tons of export (- 46.8%), 3 262.948 thou tons of coastal trade cargo (- 1.8%). Export structure was as follows: oil and oil products - 94 883 thou tons (12.2 times less compared to January-November 2005, container turnover totaled 40.492 thou tons (- 28.5%), timber - 593.551 thou tons (- 7.1%), metal scrap - 202.278 thou tons (+ 19.8%), coal and coke – 164.487 thou tons (+ 11.7%), other general cargo - 8.795 thou tons (3.9 times as high as that of January-November 2005). Coastal trade cargo had the following structure: oil and oil products - 2 794.309 thou tons (- 6.2%), machines and equipment – 8.706 thou tons (- 51.3%), metal – 71.125 thou tons (+ 37.5%), other general cargo – 261.248 thou tons (2.1 times as high as that of January-November 2005), coal - 40.355 thou tons (+26.5%), containers - 76.688 thou tons (- 32.8%).
