Cargo turnover of Vanino Port up 2.9% in 11M06

Cargo turnover of Vanino Port grew 2.9%, year-on-year, amounting to 5.862 million tons, the company reports according to AK&M. transportation of coastal trade cargo (excluding ferry transportation) decreased by 19.4% to 325.7 thou tons. The ferry link transported 1.7 million tons (-3.8% year-on-year). Import grew by 39.4% to 731.5 thou tons including 707.4 of alumina,  12.4 thou tons of imported cars.  Export grew by 3.4% to 3.1 million tons including 75.1% growth of coal transportation – to 460.4 thou tons, timber – by 100.6%, fertilizers – by 106.6%. From the beginning of the year the company handled 1637 vessels (including 741 ferries) and 65.5 thou wagons (+3.2%). In November the port handled 519.8 thou tons of cargo (-2.7% against November 2005).

Vanino Commercial Seaport is the largest stevedoring company at Khabarivsk region. It provides handling and forwarding services. Cargo is delivered via Vanino to the north-eastern regions of Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of APR. The company’s authorized capital  amounts to 134.9 thou rubles. Major shareholder is the Federal Agency on federal property management holding 55% of shares. In the 9-month period of 2006, the port’s proceeds totaled RUR 793.4 million, net profit – RUR 41.9 million.
