Former deputy General Director at Krylovsy State Research Centre Evgeny Appolonov was appointed as interim Rector of the St.Petersburg State Marine Technical University (MTU), effective December 7, 2013, the Krylovsky Centre said in a media release.
Mr. Apollonov joined a team of Krylovsky naval architecture and marine engineering firm in 1977 after graduating from the Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute. He earned D. Engr in 2003.
In 1994 Mr. Appolonov was appointed as head of the department of hull strength of surface ships, in 2006 - deputy director of hull strength department and the next year Mr. Appolonov led the department of design of vessels and equipment for researches of marine resources. In 2012 he was appointed as deputy General Director of the Krylovsky Centre.
Since 2005, Mr. Appolonov has had a part-time job at the State Marine Technical University, as a professor of ship design department.
St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University (MTU) is the only educational institution in Russia for future naval architectures and marine engineers, designers and operators of merchant vessels, surface ships and submarines, designers and engineers of vessels and equipment for offshore oil and gas industry.
