TransContainer launches box train on Novosibirsk-Vladivostok route
RZD's subsidiary TransContainer has launched a new container freight train on the route Kleshchikha, West-Siberian Railway – Pervaya Rechka, Far East Railway, the company said Wednesday.
The first train consisting of 71 rail cars set out from the Kleshchikha WSR station on December 14, 2013 on its 7-day 5,997km haul.
The second train will dispatch from the same station on December 29. In the future the service is planned to become regular with trains dispatching three times a month.
TransContainer OJSC has operated as a subsidiary of Russian Railways (RZD) since July 2006. The company owns 46 terminals in Russia’s major freight centres, with its branches covering the entire railway network across the country. The company’s major shareholder is Russian Railways with 50% +2 shares. FESCO holds 23.7%, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development 9.25%, Transfingroup CJSC 5.1%. In 2012, container transport by the rolling stock of TransContainer increased by 8.9% (yoy) to 1.48 million TEUs.
