Arkhangelsk region plan to work out a program for development of shipbuilding until 2020. On the necessity of its development said local Governor Igor Orlov during the Council on maritime activities, the region's administration press office reports.
The official called on local authorities to be more active to push the region's interests in the Maritime strategy of Russia.
"Our region has always been, is and will be a "maritime" one. It is necessary to define our place in the state program of the Russian Federation, to consider all directions, calculate the efficiency of the proposed projects, to fight for the role of the Arkhangelsk region and for the state investment", Orlove said.
The Russian region plans to create technology and industrial clusters. To bring about the projects the Archangelsk region needs to prepare a package of incentives to motivate associations, businesses to invest in the region's industry, in the development of marine, river transport, in particular.
"Development of shipbuilding in the Arkhangelsk region is not Severodvinsk development alone! It should be considered only as part of the entire program. Our companies have secured a large volume of newbuilding orders for the defense industry”, the offical said adding that there are a lot more shipbuilding enterprises along with Zvezda and Sevmash that could do that job.
