Dangerous mandarins shipped to Sochi from Turkey

Inspectors of the Krasnodar Regional Department of Rosselkhoznadzor seized a large compartment of Turkish mandarins from board of Princess Victoria vessel at Sochi sea port, a REGNUM correspondent is told at a press office of the department.

It was revealed during the inspection that 20 ton of mandarins do not meet sanitary regulations, as they were contaminated by larvae of Mediterranean fruit fly. The fruits were sent back to sender. A spokesperson for the press office said that apart from the mandarins, 21 ton of oranges and over 27 ton of lemons were also shipped in the hold, but they were packed separately from the mandarins. During an inspection of the other fruits no violations of the sanitary rules were registered.
