Shenzhen's SCT container port on the AE8 service at Shekou lifted 2,009 boxes in 7 hours and 16 minutes aboard the Maersk Saigon, setting a new vessel productivity record of 280 moves per crane per hour, said a company statement.This beats the previous record of 210.5 moves per crane per hour when handling the Mette Maersk on April 16, 2005. The container branch of the China Ports Association has presented three awards to SCT in 2005-2006, naming it one of the top 10 container terminals in China, the award for excellence as a container terminal in China. SCT recently introduced four new 40-foot tandem quay cranes from ZPMC. These are the most advanced and largest in the world, capable of handling two 40-foot boxes or four 20-foot boxes simultaneously. With a lifting height of 43 metres above rail and a maximum outreach of 65 metres, and capacity under spreader of up to 100 tons, the cranes can service the largest containerships.
