EPIC partners to double service

CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and Hamburg-Süd are to launch a second EPIC loop, adding to the existing EPIC service . EPIC is a vessel sharing agreement (Europe Pakistan India Consortium)
Six ships averaging 2,800 teu will be deployed on the EPIC 2 : CMA CGM TULIP, CMA CGM TURKEY, CMA CGM AEGEAN, CMA CGM ROSE (all four 2,826 teu), LIVORNO EXPRESS (2,902 teu - Hapag-Lloyd - with the 3,322 teu GOTHENBURG EXPRESS acting as an interim ship in the beginning) and CAP ROCA (2,716 teu - Hamburg-Süd). The new loop will add 2,800 weekly teu to the trade. Combined with the capacity of the existing EPIC (4,170 weekly teu), the total EPIC capacity will stand at 7,000 weekly teu, i.e. an annual carrying capacity of 365,000 teu.The first westbound sailing will occur on 23 December from Karachi with the CMA CGM TULIP.
