Cargo turnover of the port of Saint Petersburg totaled 49 360.5 thou tons in January-November 2006 (-7.2%, year-on-year), The port’s Administration reports. Transshipment of oil products totaled 11 985.3 thou tons (-19.2% against January-November 2005), metal – 5 717.8 thou tons (-31.4%), timber – 2 316.3 thou tons (-29.3%). Transshipment of containers grew by 21.6 % to 13 989.5 thou tons (1 310 037 TEU). Over the reported period the port handled 3 177.7 thou tons of refrigerated cargo (+5.2%), 4 737.6 thou tons (-30.9%) of chemical cargo, 86.9 thou tons of food stuffs (-61.5%). Transshipment of general cargo totaled 1 871.7 thou tons (+16.2%). Transshipment of coal and ore totaled 2 183.7 thou tons (-30.3%), grain - 403.9 thou tons (+5.6%). In the 11-month period the port handled 108.9 thou tons of dry bulk cargo, 18.4 thou tons of dry loose cargo and 2 762.7 thou tons of metal scrap. In January-November the port handled 25 211 vessels.
