WESMAR announced that the company’s V2-12 commercial bow thruster is part of the propulsion equipment on the 60-foot Turkish Research Vessel BELUGA, doing deep water research in areas around the Bosporus Straits, the Sea of Marmara, along the west coast of Turkey and in the South Mediterranean Sea between Turkey and Cyprus, WESMAR said in a press release.
The vessel is owned by Derinsu Underwater Engineering Company of Turkey and is being used for deep water research assignments related to gas and electric pipe and cable line installations.
Ocean underwater engineer for the company, Mr. Kemal Ozyurt says: “The WESMAR thruster has exceeded my expectations and I am very thankful to WESMAR and Ezberci Marine, WESMAR’s dealer in Turkey, who installed the thruster along with an electro-hydraulic power pack, to accommodate the vessel’s limited space and limited power source caused by the extensive research equipment on board. My Ozyurt said the thruster is in continuous use during search operations.
WESMAR says their thrusters which come in sizes from 5 to 500 horsepower, and are on work boats around the world where they are called upon for critical maneuvering, docking, and holding tight to position, in all types of weather conditions. The powerful, all stainless steel dual prop counter rotating WESMAR design provides up to 40 percent more thrust without using additional space. They are in use around the world on fire boats, research boats, search and rescue boats, ferry boats, and on all types of offshore delivery boats.
