A total of 850,000 passengers passed through the Port of Helsinki in April, indicating a growth of 9 % from April last year, the port says in its press release.
The majority of the passengers, some 74 %, travelled on the Helsinki-Tallinn routes, which experienced a growth of 10 % compared to the previous year. Routes between Helsinki and Stockholm accounted for 22 % of the passengers; passenger numbers on these routes grew by as much as 16 % compared to April last year.
The total number of passengers in January-April was almost 3 million, an increase of 2% from the previous year.
The Port of Helsinki’s unitised cargo traffic totalled almost 0.9 million tons in April, an increase of 2 % from April last year. The fact that the Easter holidays were in April this year had a negative impact on growth.
The amount of unitised cargo traffic in January-April was almost 3.0 million tons, a growth of 3 %. Imports remained at the same level as last year, at 1.6 million tons. Exports totalled 1.7 million tons, an increase of 6 % from the previous year.
