Cargo turnover of Latvia’s minor ports down 10.6% in 11M06

Latvia’s minor ports handled 0.999 million tons of cargo in January-November 2006 (-10.6% against year-on-year result, when cargo turnover of the same ports totaled 1.117 million tons, delfi.lv reports. The most significant decrease was demonstrated by the ports of Mersrags and Skulte. The port of Mergsrags transshipped 258.6 thou tons of cargo (-22.6%, year-on-year (333.9 thou tons). Skulte decreased cargo turnover by 22% to 343.5 thou tons.  The port of Roja increased its cargo turnover by 64%. From the beginning of the year its transshipment totaled 36.1 thou tons of cargo.  The highest result was demonstrated by the port of Salacgriva — 356 thou tons (+11.1%). Cargo turnover of Pavilosta totaled 4.1 thou tons.  Engure handled 9 thou tons of cargo (-3.1%).
