Cargo turnover of Ventspils port down 1.5% in 11M06

Free port of Ventspils decreased its cargo turnover by 1.5% in January-November 2006 to 26.546 million tons (-392.9 thou tons year-on-year), RZD-Partner reports. In the 11-month period the port handled 16.584 million tons of liquid bulk cargo (+258.6 thou tons, or +1.6% against year-on-year result). The figure includes 14.117 million tons of oil products (-7.5%). The port also handled 2.038 million tons of loose bulk cargo (-21%, or –7.674 million tons, year-on-year), mostly coal – 3.583 million tons and chemicals – 3.216 million tons. Transshipment of general cargo totaled 2.288 million tons (+1.386 million tons which makes 2.5-fold increase). The majority of general cargo falls on containers – 1.678 million tons. Cargo turnover planned by Ventspils port for 2006 is 29 million tons.
