Royal Wagenborg has developed a new series of 23.000 DTW multi-purpose dry cargo vessels in cooperation with Ferus Smit Shipyards. After the previous deliveries over the m.v. Reestborg and m.v. Reggeborg currently the m.v. Roerborg is ready to be launched at the production site of Ferus Smit in Leer, Germany. The launch is scheduled for Friday, 4th of July at 11:00 hours, the company said in its press release.
These vessels are designed with fully open hatch box, two holds, each with a length of 60 meters. The vessels are equipped with the possibility to partly place a removable pontoon tween deck. These panels can also be used as separation bulkheads on various positions. By the use of a propeller in nozzle configuration and a special designed hull shape, the main engine power could be reduced to 4.500 kw while the vessels’ speed is marginal influenced by draught or sea state.
The vessels have an ice class 1a notation and are equipped and employable for world-wide trading including navigation on the Saint Lawrence Seaways, Panama Canal and Suez Canal. All this makes the vessels suitable for carrying general cargoes, such as steel, forest products, break bulk and bulk cargoes including grain.
