In January-June 2014, Multipurpose Reloading Complex (Ust-Luga) handled 1.9 mln t of cargo (+20%, year-on-year), the company’s press center says.
In June, it handled 385,000 t of cargo, which is a record high result in the company history. From January, 2014, average monthly throughput of Multipurpose Reloading Complex is about 320,000 t per month.
June also saw unloading of a record high number of open-top wagons with coal – 5,124 wagons (+12% against average monthly result in the reported period. Average daily unloading is 171 open-top wagons.
The terminal’s throughput growth should be attributed to increased handling of thermal coal driven by high demand in Europe, the statement says.
To meet the challenges of the growing cargo turnover the company has commenced the implementation of the technical upgrading programme and purchased two MANTSINEN 120R cranes and two KOMATSU WA420-3 loaders.
Multipurpose Reloading Complex LLC (part of UCL Port – stevedoring division of international transport group UCL Holding) operates a cargo terminal at Ust-Luga port of the Leningrad region. It is focused on acceptance, storage and shipment general cargo and dry bulk cargo. In 2013, throughput of Multipurpose Reloading Complex LLC amounted to 3.5 mln t (+18%, year-on-year).
