Throughput of Tallinna Sadam (Estonia) up 2.1% to 15.2 mln t in HI’14
In the first half of 2014, Tallinna Sadam handled 15.2 mln t of cargo (+2.1%, year-on-year), the company’s press center says.
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo hit 10.6 mln t (+1.5%), dry bulk cargo – 1.3 mln t (-8.7%), ro-ro cargo – 1.9 mln t (+8%). The port’s container throughput climbed by 2.1% to 131,703 TEUs.
The number of passengers travelling via the port increased by 5%, year-on-year, to 4.4 mln including 3.680 mln passengers travelling by Tallinn-Helsinki route (+6%, year-on-year) and 473,600 passengers - by Tallinn-Stokholm route (+7.3%).
In June, the port’s throughput declined by 3.9% to 2.240 mln t of cargo. Passenger throughput increased by 6.2% to 1.030 mln persons.
The port of Tallinn is the forth largest port in the Baltic sea after the ports of St. Petersburg, Primorsk and Ust-Luga. It comprises four port areas: Muuga, Old City Harbour, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa.
In 2013, the port’s throughput fell by 4.2% to 28.2 mln tonnes. Passenger throughput of Tallinna Sadam climbed by 4.5% to 9.2 mln. Net profit of Tallinna Sadam surged by 21% to EUR 39.7 mln.
