Logistics and materials handling specialist ICA has joined hands with Joloda (UK) to provide a "one shot container stuffing system" in Australia and New Zealand, according to ferret.com, the news site of Sydney-based Reed Business Information. The report described the system as "unique" and is portable and reusable allowing one worker to load and unload a TEU and a FEU weighing up to 28 tons. ICA's One Shot Container Stuffing System comprises the Joloda container jacking system, skate and track.
The stuffing system quickly assembles in several easy steps. Depressing the the jacks lower the container from the trailer to create a loading angle matching that of the plinth. A portable steel track is clipped together and laid parallel on the plinth and container floor; and the skates with a 28-ton capacity are positioned on the tracks, ready for engagement, under the load. Once the load is stowed, the skates are manually lowered; the skate and track system pulled out, and the container jacks are powered up allowing the container to be locked onto the trailer. The container jacks are unclipped and the trailer departs, and is ready to ship. At the destination, the system can be reversed and the container stripped. The One Shot Container Stuffing System enables long, wide and heavy loads to be one-shot, loaded with only 25mm of clearance from sidewalls, maximising container usage with no load damage and a rapid turn around time of usually 30 minutes. The One Shot Container Stuffing System's manual breaking system incorporated in the hydraulic skate lift mechanism allows continuous operator control and heightened safety with instant braking.
