Freight One's unit increases imports traffic via the North-West ports by three times to 88,000 tonnes in 1H2014
St. Petersburg branch of Russian rail operator JSC Freight One in the first half of 2014 increased traffic volume of imports through the ports of the North-West to 88,000 tonnes, which represents a threefold gain year-on-year, the company said in a news release. The rail operator added that the share of FO in total imports traffic from North-West ports jumped by as much as two times and now account for 18%.
The improved performance was due to the interaction of the St. Petersburg branch of Freight One with ports of UCL Holing based on the territory of the North-West Federal District, as well as to the resumption of cooperation with Murmansk Commercial Seaport.
By joint efforts Freight One transported 52 tonnes of freight, which is 59% of total imports, moved by St. Pb branch through the northwestern ports.
In particular, the volume of traffic from the quays of JSC Sea Port Saint-Petersburg leaped by three times to 51,000 tonnes. Shipments of inbound goods from Murmansk Commercial Sea Port totaled 26,000 tonnes, from the port of Vyborg – 10,000 tonnes.
The imported goods include bulk cargo and equipment. Freight traffic were delivered from the sea ports of St. Petersburg, Ust-Luga, Murmansk and Vyborg to various consignees in Russia.
