Allocations of Russian Railways for Mga-Ivangorod line and approaches to southern ports of Gulf of Finland totaled RUB 6.3 bln in HI’14

In January-June 2014, ivestment of Russian Railways OJSC in reconstruction of Mga-Gatchina-Weimarn-Ivangorod line and rail access to seaports on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland totaled RUB 6.3 bln, the Company’s press center says.

The Project of “Overall Reconstruction of "Mga-Gatchina-Weimarn-Ivangorod line and rail access to seaports on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland” is aimed at the increase of cargo turnover between Russia and EU states via Ust-Luga port. It is under implementation from 2005. Total value of the project is RUB 152.6 bln. From 2005 when the reconstruction began, investments into the project totaled RUB 76.7 bln, investments into Ust-Luga railway hub – RUB 30.2 bln. Handling capacity of Ust-Luga railway hub has been improved considerably. In 2013, Russian Railways transported 37 mln t of cargo to/from Ust-Luga. Total throughput of port Ust-Luga in 2013 was 62,640,300 t of cargo.
