Russian Railways (RZD) has imposed a 50 percent limit on all coal shipments to the destination port of Tuapse for the period between July 22 and July 31, 2014. The Russian state-owned rail giant also offered limitation of the commodity shipment to the terminal operator "Tuapse Commercial Seaport" (TMTP) in August, from ordered 142 cars to 110 cars / day, a source familiar with the matter told IAA PortNews.
The decision may entail a decline in the July-August coal throughput figures for the port operators in the amount of 115,000 tonnes.
The source believes the coal traffic restriction decision was due to the plans of the Tuapse-Sortirovochnaya station to perform maintenance and repair work on the No 85 railway track, connecting the station and the port.
