Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) and Baku Shipyard LLC signed contract for the construction of three Fast Crew Supply boats of project 38M CB designed by Singapore based naval architecture & marine engineering firm SHIPTECH. The 38M-design FCBs will be built for Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company, the RS press release said.
Construction will commence in August 2014. The newbuilding FCBs is scheduled to be delivered before May 2016. The vessels will be built to RS class notation: MS: KM (*) HSC crew boat.
The vessels were designed for supply of up to 80 workers and various cargoes to offshore drilling rigs and other oil & gas exploration and production facilities. The FCB cruising range is 100 miles off the coast.
Ship's general characteristics: length overall - 38.22 m; breadth - 8.20 m; depth - 4.30 m; draft - 2.25 m; crew – 8.
This order will be the first major project since inauguration of Azerbaijan based Baku Shipyard in 2013 and will help boost cooperation with the newly launched shipyard. The fast crew supply vessels will be deployed in the Caspian Sea to serve the following offshore fields: Guneshli, Chiraq, Azeri, Bulla, Pirallahi, West Absheron and Chilov.
