Sea ferry service Wakkanai-Korsakov linking Sakhalin and Japan has terminated its operation till the end of winter, RIA Novosti reports. The Eins Soya ferry runs between Russian port of Korsakov and Japanese Wakkanai (Hokkaido) from spring to the beginning of winter. It takes 6 hours to get from Wakkanai to Korsakov. The service was put into operation in spring 1998. The Eins Soya ferry may carry 140 passengers and 280 tons of cargo. Japan suggests that the service be operated all year round.
