Oil spill response drills in Big Port St. Petersburg (photo release)

Teams of three companies on July 2014 conducted the federal oil spill response and salvage drills of JSC IN TRANSIT at Big Port St. According to scenario of the contingency plan the spill occurred while loading oil products to a tanker at temporary offshore jetties P-1, P-4, P-5 of Anchorage No 5-A of Big Port of St. Petersburg, Russian Marine Emergency Rescue Service (Gosmorspassluzhba) said.

Emergency response teams of Sea Port Authority Baltic Sea, JSC IN-TRANSIT and the Baltic branch of Gosmorspassluzhba of Russia participated in the exercises.

Gosmorspassluzhba deployed a multipurpose salvage vessel "Spasatel Zaborschikov, tugboat "Arkturus" and the harbor DSV "Vodolaz Litvin."

Objectives of the exercise were as follows: search and rescue of the incident victims, extinguish the fire on the tanker, diving survey and repair of the tanker damage (conditional) and containment and recovery of the spilled oil products.
