JSC Seaport Saint-Petersburg (SP St.Pb) in January-June 2014 invested RUB 18.5 million for the environment protection measures, the port operator said in a press release.
The money were spent, in particular, for monitoring the quality of air and wastewater, for control of compliance with the standards and requirements of environmental and health legislation.
In the reporting period, the company carried out a modernization of the energy complex of SP St.Pb, maintenance of treatment facilities and ensured control of the volume of generated wastes, its safe disposal and further recycling.
JSC Sea Port St. Petersburg (part of UCL Port, a sub-holding, managing stevedoring assets of UCL Holding) is the largest operator, providing ranged services for handling of all types of dry bulk cargo in Big Port St. Petersburg. The company operates modern specialized terminals for handling Ro-Ro cargo, imported vehicles and metals. In 2013, cargo throughput at Sea Port St. Petersburg was 7.8 million tonnes.
