Keel-laying of a containership at Lotos shipyard for Rensen Shipbuilding BV

Keel-laying of a hull for a containership has been carried out at Lotos Shipyard (MNP Group), the Group’s press release reports. The vessel is to be built to the order of Rensen Shipbuilding BV (Netherlands). The contract signed in March 2006 implies construction of two 1,450-ton hulls by June 2007.

The dry-cargo ship is intended for transportation of international standard containers, as well as loose, bulk and grain cargoes. Basic characteristics of the vessel: maximum length is 135 m, breadth – 17.1 m, draught – 3.5 m, depth – 6 m. As of today, it is the largest vessel of such a class at the Dutch market.  The ship will be operated in the inland waterways of Europe. The construction supervision and classification is to be carried out by Bureau Veritas.

Lotos Shipyard (Astrakhan) earlier specialized in construction of modules of topsides for offshore platforms. Today Lotos Shipyard repairs ships hulls, hull systems and machinery. Lotos is the largest enterprise in Astrakhan region. It is certified by The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, Russian River Register, GL, Gosgortechnadzor of the Russian Federation.
