Cargo loading of RZD OJSC grew by 3% in 2006 amounting to over 1.3 billion tons, Vadim Morozov, the company’s First Deputy President told at the meeting summarizing year results, the company’s press center reports. According to Morozov, cargo turnover grew by 4.3%, income from cargo transportation grew by 11.7% mostly owing to growth in loading of high-cost cargo.
Morozov attributes the results to modernization of production facilities of the company. The company’s investments into modernization totaled about RUR 180 billion.
Among the tasks for 2007 Morozov mentioned implementation of planned sales. Investments into overhaul of the fixed assets will total over RUR 140 billion in 2007. The repair works will cover over 9 thou kilometers of railway, over 3 thou locomotives, 19 thou cargo wagons and over 3.7 passenger wagons.
