United Metallurgical Company plans selling of unfinished metallurgical terminal at port Ust-Luga
United Metallurgical Company (OMK) is looking for a buyer for the Specialized Metallurgical Terminal (Metallurgical Terminal BMT) at port Ust-Luga, the construction of which was stopped in 2013. As OMK told IAA PortNews, the decision comes from the concentration of the company’s efforts on investments into metallurgical production and consumption of the company’s products mainly in Russia.
According to Ust-Luga Company, construction customer of the port, the capacity of the 1st phase of the terminal was to make 2 mln t, the 2nd phase – up to 4 mln t. Design capacity of the terminal was to total 6 mln t per year.
United Metallurgical Company (OMK) is one of Russia’s largest producers of pipes, railway wheels and other steel products for energy, transport and industrial companies. The company was established in 1992. OMK unites seven large metallurgical enterprises: Vyksa Steel Works (Nizhny Novgorod region), Chusovoy Metallurgical Works (Perm region), Almetyevsk Pipe Plant (Tatarstan), Trubodetal Plant (Chelyabinsk region), the Casting and Rolling Complex (Nizhny Novgorod region), Blagoveshchensk Valve Plant (Bashkortostan) and OMK Tube plant (Texas, USA).
