Volume of cargo transportation by Russian railways up 2.9%in 11M06

In the 11-month period Russian railways transported 1.2 billion tons of cargo (+2.9% against year-on-year result), Igor Levitin, RF Transport Minister, told at the press conference dedicated to preliminary results of transport complex, the press release of Transport Ministry reports. Transportation of coal totaled 260.9 million tons (+3.1%), coke - 10.3 million tons (-0.5%), oil and oil products - 207.906 million tons (+4.6%), iron and manganese ore - 99.200 million tons (+7.1%), ferrous metals - 72.819 million tons (+9.9%), ferrous metal scrap - 24.395 million tons (+1.3%), chemical and mineral fertilizers - 39.5 million tons (-0.3%), cement - 35.413 million tons (+10.6%), timber - 59.073 million tons (+1%), grain and grain products - 20.123 million tons (+0.1%), construction materials - 187.512 million tons (-2.8%).  In the 11-month period cargo turnover grew by 4.5% to 1 769 932 million tons per km.
