On October 27, 2014, Mikhail Margelov was appointed Vice-President of Transneft, the Company says in its press release. Mikhail Margelov will be in charge of the Company’s foreign trade activities and public relations.
Mikhail Margelov was born on December 22, 1964, in Moscow. In 1986 he graduated from the Institute of Asian and African Countries (Moscow State University) as Orientalist and Translator. Between October 1999 to October 2000, he was a director of the Russian Information Centre (Rosinformcentr). From May 1998 to September 1999, he held a managerial position at RIA Novosti news agency. In 2001-2014, Margelov was a head of the Federation Council's Committee for Foreign Affairs.
He is a Member of the Council for Foreign and Defense Policies and Russian Council for International Affairs.
