Cargo turnover of Kaliningrad port grew 4.4% in January-November 2006 to 13 954.6 thou tons, PortNews IAA learnt from Rosmorport FSUE Kaliningrad branch. Over the reported period export totaled 12 504.8 thou tons (+5.4% against January-November 2005). The figure includes 8 785.5 thou tons of oil and oil products (+11.1%), 619.4 thou tons of chemical cargo (-9.1%). Transshipment of ferrous metal totaled 1 587.1 thou tons (-9.5%), metal scrap – 154.8 thou tons (-22%), ferrous alloys – 263.7 thou tons (+3.1%). In the 11-month period the port handled 648.6 thou tons of coal and coke (+21.6%), 92.0 thou tons of timber (-7.8%), 77.2 thou tons of grain (-32.9%). The port’s container turnover totaled 65 186 TEU (205.8 thou tons), which is 9% below 2005. Export of ro-ro cargo totaled 31.4 thou tons (+15.2%).
In the 11-month period the port handled 1 386.4 thou tons of import cargo (-3.3%). Container turnover amounted to 68 367 TEU (543.2 thou tons), (+19% against January-November 2005). Import of ro-ro cargo totaled 24.6 thou tons (+32.8%), grain – 278.6 thou tons (-11.1%), fish – 120.8 thou tons (-24.6%), refrigerated cargo – 89.2 thou tons (-44.5%), chemical cargo – 8.3 thou tons (-2.4%), other cargo – 321.7 thou tons (+1.6%).
In January-November 2006 the port handled 57.863 thou tons of coastal trade cargo (-1.1% against January-November 2005).
