Murmansk region and Russian Geographic Society ink cooperation agreement (photo)

The Governor of the Murmansk region Marina Kovtun and First Vice-President of the Russian Geographical Society Artur Chilingarov signed a cooperation agreement, the IAA PortNews correspondent reports from the ceremony.
The two parties signed the agreement on the sidelines of the 4th International Forum & Exhibition "The Arctic: Present and Future" in St. Petersburg.

Marina Kovtun said the agreement will help improve work of the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society.
"We will direct our efforts to ensure that the Arctic issue sounded even stronger," the Murmansk Gov. Kovtun was quoted as saying.

Russian Geographic Society was founded in 1845. This is one of the oldest geographical societies of the world. It brings together experts in the field of geography and related sciences as well as travelers, environmentalists, social activists.
